Christina Lupton

Christina Lupton writes about the history of reading, our engagement with books, and the ways novel reading plays into our desires, fears, and struggles for a better life. She’s held Leverhulme and Humboldt fellowships for her work on the history of reading and time-use in the eighteenth century and written widely for publications including Public Books, Avidly, and the LA Review of Books.

Currently a Professor in the department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick, Christina has also taught at universities in the US, Canada, Sweden, and Denmark. Her newest project is a ficto-critical description of her own experiences as a reader of fiction. Love and the Novel will be published by Profile in 2021.
