Owen Gaffney

Owen Gaffney is a global sustainability writer, analyst and strategist. He is based at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Stockholm Resilience Centre. He is a Future Earth Senior Fellow, an Edmund Hillary Fellow (New Zealand), on the faculty of Singularity University and advises organisations like the Global Commons Alliance. He co-founded the Exponential Roadmap Initiative and the film company Gaiaxia.  

  

Owen writes about the past, present and future of humanity. He publishes academic research and analysis relating to the Anthropoc. He works at the nexus between science, policy, media and business. He has published in Science and Nature and is a regular contributor to New Scientist. He co-founded the Future Earth Media Lab and Rethink magazine and is on the editorial board of the Anthropocene magazine.

   

His background spans journalism, filmmaking, writing, communications, Earth-system science, international policy, astronautic engineering, data visualization and academic publishing.
