Nell Osborne is a novelist and poet.
Her debut novel, Ghost Driver (Moist Books, 2025), was jointly awarded the Queen Mary Small Press Fiction Prize in 2026. Daisy LaFarge describes it as ‘addictively morbid, comic and discomfortingly familiar’, while prize judge Marina Benjamin writes that it ‘brings administrative noir into the orbit of body horror—as if Ottessa Moshfegh had written Severance’. Nell is currently working on her second novel.
Nell’s poetry pamphlet Thank You For Everything was published by Monitor Books in 2024. Seances Near Me is forthcoming from Spite Press in 2027.
Nell completed a PhD at the University of Manchester on experimental women’s writing, including the work of Ann Quin, Anna Kavan and Muriel Spark. She co-edited Gestures: a body of work, an anthology of creative-critical writing on gesture and feminist practice, with contributions from Erin Manning and Lauren Berlant (Manchester University Press, 2025).
