How To Submit

We accept submissions by both post and email.

If submitting by email, send your work to submissions@pewliterary.com . Your submission should be in Word or PDF format and 1.5 or double-spaced. Accompany your submission with a cover letter that tells us a little about you as a writer.

Please do not send a stamped addressed envelope. Once we have read your work, we will recycle it. Please do include, however, an email address so that we can respond to you directly.

Please note that we do not accept submissions that have been written using generative AI (Artificial Intelligence). We also discourage you from using AI-powered tools in the editing of your work (with the exception of word processing tools such as spelling and grammar checks), and ask that you disclose to us where AI has been used for purposes of research or for the creation of additional materials, such as images or diagrams.

The guidelines for non-fiction and fiction submissions are different, so please read the relevant section and submit accordingly.

We aim to respond to all submissions within six weeks.

Fiction

If submitting a fiction manuscript, please submit in the first instance the opening three chapters (or fifty pages) along with a synopsis. The synopsis should be a clear explanation of the plot from first to final chapter. Please accompany your submission with a brief cover letter that tells us a little about you as a writer.

Non-fiction

While we will consider submissions of non-fiction books that are fully written, the majority of non-fiction titles are sold on proposal. A non-fiction proposal should be approximately thirty pages long. You should address the following:

What the book is about, and why it needs to be published.
Who you are and why you are the ideal person to write this book.
A summary of the market for the book, including similar or competing books that have already been published.
A chapter of sample text (usually taken from an early part of the book, but not the introduction).
An outline of chapters (a page per chapter, written in full prose).

What Not To Submit

Unfortunately, we do not represent children's picture books, poetry, or books entirely aimed at an academic market. While we do not accept submissions of scripts for film, TV or theatre, we of course successfully represent the dramatic rights of our writers' work.
